Lilysilly presents our tribute to Flight of the Conchords (puppet style).

Big thanks to the hands of Sharon, Marina, Lea and, of course, the vocal talents of Danila.

Oh Becky, Becky… isn’t she great? Here Abacus joins us from Deutschland, and Becky is the first to “welcome” him.

For our German viewers this should be a fun one. Thank you Ulli from Hamburg for helping make the site more international!

For those of us who are German-challenged… I will have to work out subtitles somehow, but for now know that our puppet friend says things like “why am I such an idiot magnet?”

Enjoy!

Freckle

Thanks to the Waterside Workshop in Berkeley - which gave me free use of their sewing machines, and to the lovely people of Berkeley who leave old sweaters out on the sidewalk - wehave a new friend: Freckle.

Ariette and me

I have another new love! Yes, I picked this baby up at the Starving Musician in Berkeley and couldn’t stop thinking about it. So full the sound, so smooth the bellow. It just felt right. This is a beautiful thing to hold and hear and it will now live with me.

Behold the Ariette!

Pickett Rick

Pickett Rick

So, a while back when I was visiting my “BFF” Sharon in Cali I met Rick, her roomie, and artist in residence. Rick, among his many talents, draws sweet little creatures which you can check out at

http://www.rickpickett.com/

I decided to adopt a creature and let it live on my guitar in sticker form. And there he lived happily.

A few days ago, I was sitting in a stupor on my couch. The creature stared blankly at me from across the room. I stared back. He won the staring contest, and as a prize I decided to immortalize him in puppet shape.

And here he is - Pickett Rick!

And then our little farmer had a little trouble.

Kookla

             Kookla

Sometimes, when you become known for your ability to use scissors and a glue gun, people around you get a bit demanding. These people are even more demanding when they are related to you, and happened to give you the very gift you give to old sweaters, that is, the glorious gift of life.

And so it was that one Sunday afternoon, my mother informed me that she needed a puppet. This puppet had about two hours to be created, because she was leaving at 3 o’clock to visit a friend whose daughter was to recieve the yet unstitched present. I knew this particular little girl, Talia, who loved books more than anything in her 7-year old world. On previous visits, Talia and I had sat for hours either reading Shel Silverstien’s poems aloud or making fantastic crayon masterpieces. It would be an honor to make this lovely child a friend, so I took on the challenge. Speed puppeting!

As a result, we got Kookla.

We immediately set about teaching Kookla proper manners and such. We amused her with children’s toys and how to play with them:

Paper Hat Awesomeness

This is an amazing act of simplicity! The coolest paper hat making I’ve seen so far. I made one out of old newspaper comics, and some wallpaper samples salvaged from the trash-o.

Robin

Welcome Robin to our puppet extravaganza. Robin thinks she’s a bird, and she wants to be your “fwend”. If you’re really lucky, she will let you play with “Fwed”, the bunny in her purse.
